Last term, I had the privilege of teaching two art courses through Surrey Adult Learning, and I’m thrilled to share that both were an overwhelming success. I ran one oil painting course, and one acrylic painting course, both aimed at beginners. My learners made remarkable progress, producing works that truly showcased their developing skills. Below are photos of some particularly strong pieces on this article as it’s so inspiring to see the results of such hard work and dedication!

The feedback from participants has been overwhelmingly positive. It was clear that each artist found their own rhythm and unique style while mastering techniques like layering, blending, and understanding colour theory.
As we step into the Spring term, I’m excited to announce my new courses:
Oil Painting for Beginners (Guildford SAL Centre): Aimed at beginners, this course offers step-by-step guidance to build foundational skills and confidence.
Oil Painting for Improvers (Guildford SAL Centre): Designed for those with a little more experience, but still in need of support from an experienced tutor, this course adopts an open studio format with critique time- a space for painters to explore, refine, and grow.
Life Drawing for all levels (Woking SAL Centre): A mixed-ability class where participants can hone their skills by practising with a nude model each week.
Whether you’re a seasoned artist or a curious beginner, I’m excited to welcome new and returning learners to these sessions. Let’s create, learn, and grow together this term!
