'London Calling'

£550.00

'London Calling', 2024, 61 x 61 x 4cm. Mixed media on canvas, including oil paint, acrylic paint, spray paint, oil pastel, found papers, and acrylic ink

I am interested in the relationship between humans and animals- how our manmade environment impacts the wildlife around us, and vice versa. I want the entire 'urban Animals' series to convey energy, and to bring together elements of nature, chaos, structure, and tension.

When considering the relationship between wildlife and urban spaces, pigeons encapsulate how we have shaped the lives of animals around our built environment. I wanted to celebrate the often-ignored beauty of the bird, emphasising the range of whimsical colours found in their plumage, bringing a pop of colour into the heart of our cities. In contrast, the skyline and rainy weather of London is represented in the collaged newspaper elements in the background.

Framed price £550. Please email me directly if you an interested in purchasing this piece unframed.

NOTE: ‘London Calling’ is due to be exhibited as a finalist piece in SAA’s Artist of the Year exhibition. The painting is unavailable until October 2024, after the public display has concluded.
