From canvas to page: My ‘Paint & Create’ magazine interview

A double page spread from 'Paint & Create' magazine. There is a full page interview with emerging British artist, Sam B. Kennedy. Her bold and colourful animal paintings are shown, interspersed with the interview text.

I’m absolutely delighted to share some exciting news- I was recently interviewed for the national publication, Paint & Create magazine!

When the team reached out to feature me in their popular “60 Seconds With” segment, I was thrilled beyond words. To have my work and journey recognised in such a respected magazine which I eagerly read each quarter is truly an honour.

In the interview, we discussed my artistic process, inspirations, and even how messy my studio can get when I’m in the middle of a creative flow! We even touched on my unusual predicament: I’m allergic to most of the animals I paint! It’s true- I can’t spend too much time around my furry muses, so I rely on photographs and memories to bring them to life on the canvas. It’s certainly easier that way- I doubt a real life magpie would be a good sitter!

Guildford Artist Sam B. Kennedy holds up a copy of Paint & Create magazine

Seeing the final article in print was an incredible moment for me. The feature spanned a full page, beautifully presented with images of my ‘Urban Animals’ paintings. I couldn’t help but feel a rush of pride and gratitude when I held the magazine in my hands. It’s a surreal experience to see my name and work in such a widely-read and admired publication- a definite highlight of the year.

I’d like to extend heartfelt thank you to the team at Paint & Create for including me in this issue. Your kindness and support mean so much to me as an emerging artist. For those of you who haven’t seen the article yet, I highly recommend picking up a copy- it’s packed with inspiring features and resources for artists of all levels.

This experience has left me feeling inspired and motivated to keep pushing forward in my creative journey. Thank you to everyone who has supported me along the way- I can’t wait to see what opportunities the rest of 2025 will bring!
