Winter markets a success

Sam B. Kennedy stands behind her colourful market stall filled with colourful animal paintings on Guildford High Street.

As 2024 drew to a close, I took part in two bustling markets on Guildford High Street. These events were a wonderful opportunity to share my art directly with the people of Guildford, and I’m thrilled to say they were a resounding success!

A table full of colourful animal paintings

Taking my work out of the gallery was a challenge. Where I’m used to larger canvases on white walls, I had to think smaller and what would work on a stall. It was so great to see how my body of work could adapt- this selection of my work still reflected my bold, colourful style, but was accessible for a market.

My smaller oil paintings were especially popular, flying off the display tables to find new homes with enthusiastic art lovers. My favourite moment was selling a small piece to an 8 year old girl- perhaps her first step as an art collector!

There’s something truly special about engaging with people face-to-face, discussing the inspiration behind a piece or the techniques used to bring it to life. Hearing how a painting resonates with someone is an indescribable joy, and it was a privilege to connect with so many supporters.

I wanted to offer some really affordable Christmassy prints- something for everyone!

To everyone who stopped by, whether to purchase a piece or simply to chat- thank you. Your support means the world to me as an emerging artist. Each sale and kind word fuels my passion and allows me to continue pursuing this creative journey.

I’m already looking forward to future events where I can share more of my work and meet even more art enthusiasts. If you missed me at the markets, don’t worry- there will be plenty more opportunities to connect and celebrate art together in 2025.
